PB SABD has been launched by Prasar Bharati under the Union Minister of Information and Broadcasting, calling PBSABD a game-changer for creators as it provides a spot for news content for small creators.

There are a total of 1200 reporters working on this platform, so they collect news in 15 languages across India. They have a total of 50 news categories and 1700 media clients in a year.

PBSABD completed its one year in March 2025 and has extended its membership free of cost till March 2026 to support media organizations, especially the smaller ones. PBSABD is becoming a news hub where it delivers 24/7 news in the form of audio, video, image, and text, over 1000 stories daily in popular Indian languages like Malayalam, Urdu, Hindi, Marathi, Bengali, Assamese, Tamil, and Telugu.

What is PB SABD?

PBSABD (Prasar Bharati-Shared Audio-Visual for Broadcast and Dissemination) was first launched in March 2024.

PBSABD is a platform that provides a wide range of copyright-free content to organized broadcasters like YouTubers, podcasters, and news channels, where they can access news of every event across India and use it in their videos without any issue.

What is Prasar Bharati?

Prasar Bharati is an autonomous body and a public service broadcaster of the country. Prasar Bharati was established in 1997 under the Prasar Bharati Act.

The aims of Prasar Bharati are to provide autonomy to Doordarshan and Akashvani so that they can educate and entertain people.

Creators can apply for a license by submitting the application, YouTube profile, and their identity. When they got the license, they got free use of the service.

ANI vs YouTubers

ANI (Asian News International) is an Indian news agency that provides syndicated multimedia news feeds to news bureaus in India. Prem Prakash founded this company in 1971 and now it is the largest news agency in India.

Mohak Mangal is a YouTube content creator for video analysis, and he uses ANI clips in his videos. As a result, ANI did not like it and complained to YouTube about him.

ANI asked him for Rs 40 lakhs for using their clip. Mohak Mangal did not respond and moved to the High Court, and said that it was completely extortion and blackmail for him because he used it under the fair use policy.

ANI simply responded that they spend a lot of money on cameras, technology, and reporters. If someone uses their clips, then he has to pay for it. The court decided to remove the ANI clip and upload the content again.

In another case, Rajat Pawar is also a YouTube creator who used ANI clips, which resulted in ANI demanding a fine of Rs 18 lakhs along with GST from him.

Seeing these incidents, many famous YouTubers also reported that similar incidents have happened to them.

After seeing everything Prasar Bharati has launched, PBSABD, under the Union Information and Broadcasting Ministry, which aims to provide copyright-free content to YouTubers, podcasters, video editors, etc.

How to Register an Account on PBSABD?

• Click on the lock symbol only for mobile users (on the right side of the homepage).

• Again, click on the New User option.

• Now, choose your account type from these three options. (Newspaper, News Television, and Digital Media).

• After choosing any one of these options, click on Next.

• Fill in the required information like email ID, phone number, editor email ID, title of your newspaper, and RNI certificate number.

• Now tick on the terms and conditions and then click on Register.

Note: This option is available only to news organizations with the proper license to operate and have experience doing serious and credible work; only they can join it.
